Alonso Tacanga graduated with his B.A. in print journalism from California State University, Northridge in May 2009 and went back for a master's degree in English in August 2011. At CSUN, as both an undergraduate and graduate, he worked as sports editor and reporter for the university's student newspaper, the Daily Sundial. Alonso was made sports editor of the Sundial in the Fall of 2008 and again in 2011. He was in charge of the daily content of the newspaper's sports section. He covered the men's soccer, men's basketball, men/women's volleyball, baseball, softball and water polo beats. In August 2012, Alonso became the assistant sports editor of the Antelope Valley Press in Palmdale, Calif., where he continued to develop his writing, editing, social media, page-designing and managing skills.
