From: March 19, 2009
This is the live-game-updates post for the Matadors vs. Memphis game from the Sprint Center:
Second half
00:00: CSUN emptied the bench. Their starters (minus Willie Galick) got a well-deserved hand. The Matadors have no reason to hang their heads.
00:32: The game is over. The Matadors now trail 81-70 and have called their last timeout.
1:02: Following a 22-6 run, the Tigers now lead by 10 as CSUN takes a timeout. Now the Matadors really need a miracle to pull this one off.
2:24: Daniel made a circus layup to cut the Memphis lead to 72-68 , but Sallie made another three to push his team’s lead to 75-68. Here’s another Sallie three for the first double-digit lead of the game: 78-68.
3:48: Just in time, CSUN breaks its dry spell with a fastbreak layup from Rodrigue Mels. It looked like Memphis was in total control. CSUN is still down 70-66.

Mazzuto on Tresvant: "It's unfortunate for all of us"
Alonso Tacanga at the Matador Score
From: March 17-18, 2009
I spoke to CSUN Athletic Director Rick Mazzuto and while he said he wasn’t happy with Deon Tresvant being ruled out of Saturday’s game against Long Beach State - and quite possibly the rest of the season - he also made it clear he supported the unchanging of the guard’s playing status.
In fact, obviously, it’s been his call all along.
“I’m responsible for that decision (of Tresvant not playing),” Mazzuto said. “It’s unfortunate for all of us, but he’s facing felony charges and those are very serious. It makes sense to not play the student athlete. It’s just logic.”
Whether or not CSUN Head Coach Bobby Braswell is behind Mazzuto’s decision 100 percent, it’s unclear.
“That’s something you’d have to ask Bobby,” Mazzuto said.

Tresvant pleads not guilty

Thursday, February 26th, 2009
CSUN men's basketball leading scorer Deon Tresvant and Jeffrey Braswell, Head Coach Bobby Braswell’s son, entered a not-guilty plea today at San Fernando Superior Court.
A preliminary hearing was set for March 16.
Tresvant and Braswell were both accused of theft at a Best Buy on New Year’s Day.
Actor Phannuel Gbewonyo, allegedly also involved in the thefts, pleaded the same way.
The three men were all represented by attorneys and limited themselves to acknowledging their pleas while their defenders did all the talking. One of the attorneys asked to not let cameras shoot the arraignment. The judge, commissioner Jeffrey Harkavy, denied the request.

Braswell quotes from Thursday regarding arrests
Alonso Tacanga at the Matador Score
Thursday, January 8th, 2009
CSUN Head Coach Bobby Braswell spoke at a press conference Thursday at the university. These were some of his comments, followed by an interpretation:
- “The student athletes (Deon Tresvant and Dallas Rutherford) will be withheld from competition until these issues are further clarified.”
This means Tresvant and Rutherford will miss the next four games at the least, seeing how their court date is Jan. 26.
- “We will continue to support these young men throughout this process.”
Pretty self-explanatory. Everyone on the team is said to be on the two players’ side.
- “During the pendency of their legal matter, the students will continue to attend classes and other curricular activities.”
